Pocos meses después de un prometedor aperitivo en forma de EP de cuatro canciones, que compré a finales del año pasado a un precio irrisorio, los finlandeses Barren Earth anuncian su disco debut, que se llamará Curse of the red river. Sale el 29 de marzo en Europa y una semana más tarde en los Estates, y contendrá las siguientes canciones:

BARREN EARTH comienza a grabar su segundo disco

El oscuro grupo finlandés está ya trabajando en el estudio.
BARREN EARTH se encuentra en los estudios Sonic Pump de Helsinki realizando el que será su segundo álbum, sucesor de "Curse Of The Red River", con el productor Jukka Varmo. El trabajo, que estará compuesto por doce temas y tendrá portada de Paul Romano (quien ha dibujado para MASTODON), será mezclado por el sueco Dan Swanö.

Su llegada se espera para otoño de este año de manos de Peaceville Records.

BARREN EARTH editará “The Devil's Resolve” en marzo



El nuevo álbum de la banda de Death Melódico Progresivo verá la luz el 13 de marzo

Los finlandeses BARREN EARTH publicarán su nuevo disco, “The Devil's Resolve”, el 13 de marzo con Peaceville Records.
El álbum ha sido mezclado por Dan Swanö (OPETH, KATATONIA) en los estudios Unisound de Suecia.
La portada corre a cargo de Paul Romano, que también ha trabajado para MASTODON.

El segundo trabajo de BARREN EARTH sigue en su línea de Death Metal Progresivo, mezclando potentes riffs, oscuras voces guturales y épicas melodías con pasajes acústicos y sinfónicos.
Según asegura la banda, esta vez han experimentado incluyendo sonidos próximos al Brutal Death, el Doom Metal, la psicodelia setentera, pasajes pastorales e incluso gaitas.

With a wealth of experience from internationally renowned acts, from former members of Finnish metallers Amorphis, to current members of Swallow the Sun, Moonsorrow, and Kreator, Barren Earth presents Progressive and Folk influenced Death/Doom Metal of the highest order.

Barren Earth emerged in 2009 with the' Our Twilight' EP, followed quickly by their debut album, The Curse Of The Red River (2010) on Peaceville. Both releases met with a rapturous reception from fans and critics alike, including awards for best new band & best album.

Mixed by Dan Swan (Opeth/Katatonia) at Unisound, 'The Devil's Resolve' continues with all the trademarks one has come to associate with Barren Earth: brutal riffs, gloomy growls, majestic melodies, as well as acoustic and progressive passages. But this time the band has delved even deeper: what was brutal on the first release is now ultra so. Likewise, what was proggy earlier is now extra so.

Never a band which likes to travel on the middle of the road, Barren Earth take you on a journey through musical landscapes encompassing brutal death metal, doomy vocals, trippy 70's prog lunacy, pastoral passages and bagpipes and then returning back to full-on metal mayhem again.

This special edition of 'The Devil's Resolve' contains the bonus tracks 'Martyrs of Devotion' & 'World in Haze'.

BARREN EARTH ha roto relaciones con su vocalista Mikko Kotamäki debido a "conflictos de agenda". Según lo declarado por la banda, se hizo de común acuerdo con "sin absolutamente ningún drama" y la banda continuará trabajando en nuevo material, mientras que busca nuevo vocalista.

BARREN EARTH anuncian nuevo vocalista


"Barren Earth" se complace en dar la bienvenida a Jón Aldará originario de las Islas Feroe como nuevo vocalista de la banda. La banda ha estado muy ocupada afinando demos y canciones para su tercer álbum cuya grabación esta previsto que se inicie en la primavera de 2014.
