ZILLA was formed by Paulo César and Mark Nagash in the beginning of 2002, precisely in january 20, in a small town called Vale do Amanhecer, Distrito Federal, Brazil.
The band's name choice was interesting. We wished a simple and straight name. A kind of spider's web is one of the first meanings for ZILLA. In Aramaic it means SHADOW, and finally for us, it means resistence.
The first recording experience came up in march 2005. The "Dry Throat Demo" was recorded containing 5 songs. In august 13, the band did the first show outside the boundaries of Distrito Federal, as main band at the "Agosto de Rock" in Miracema, Tocantins. In that ocasion, the band had a good focus by the midia, so, conceiving our first live interview to a jornalistic TV program.
The band come back with total strength in may 2009 with the actual team after a break of one year off the stages and release a 7 tracks demo intitled "DEMOstration Version" available only for a period in the official website and MySpace page.
The band started recording the Debut album PRAGMATIC EVOLUTION in october 2009. All songs was recorded and produced by Caio Duarte at Broadband Productions. In the last year the band released the debut album with 11 fast, heavy, melodic and catchy songs, bringing up the pure Melodic Death Metal punch with tips of Progressive Death Metal. The CD artwork as made by Mark Nagash, who plays guitar in the band as well. He also make many artworks for Metal and Rock bands.
After the release of PRAGMATIC EVOLUTION in Distrito Federal, the band was invited to join the cast of MARRECO'S FEST, one of the biggest festivals of Brasilia, Brazil, playing with well known bands of Brazil and Worldwide like Almah and Tim Ripper Owens with very good acceptance by public and midia.
In august, the band was the most voted band for the selective of Porao do Rock 2010 in Planaltina, opening doors for the great festival realised in the forthcoming month, playing again with well known metal bands of Brazil metal scene like André Matos, Korzus, Musica Diablo and many others. The band also was the most voted in Cult22 website wining the third place of best bands.
The american label Digimetal released in november a new compilation intitled DigmetalWorld 2: Another Kind of Evil, which has bands from South America, United States and Europe.
This month the band will play at W:O:A Metal Battle Brasilia one of two shows to win the national competition for W:O:A in Germany.
Nowadays, the band is composing new songs for the next album yet without title, but with difined theme about DNA modifications.
