AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd allegedly threatened to kill a contractor and his daughter during a phone conversation, a court document says.

The Crown's summary of facts released this morning, said the phone call was made to the victim on September 26.

It is also alleged Rudd called a business associate earlier that day to discuss what he wanted done to the person and their daughter.

On November 6, police searched Rudd's address where they discovered 0.71 grams of methamphetamine and 130g of cannabis.

Rudd is facing charges of threatening to kill, possession of methamphetamine and possession of cannabis.

He has pleaded not guilty to threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine.

He has denied making the phone calls but has admitted the cannabis charge.

Yesterday, Rudd's bail conditions were tightened to include a ban on him not taking illegal drugs, after he breached his bail during an altercation at a coffee shop.

In court, Crown prosecutor Greg Hollister-Jones said yesterday's breach was serious because it involved interfering with a witness.

Rudd's lawyer Craig Tuck said his client acknowledged the breach, which involved Rudd running into a witness who happened to be in a shop at the same time. A witness to the altercation told Stuff.co.nz it occurred outside the Columbus coffee shop in the Gate Pa shopping centre.

Rudd had been involved in a dispute with a "huge guy", the witness said. "He (Rudd) was all up in the guy's face."

The man pushed Rudd in the chest. Another worker said: "[Rudd] He fell backwards over our sign and landed in the cafe. There was food and stuff everywhere." another worker said.

At that point Rudd "went nuts". "It was a pretty eventful morning."

Rudd is the only Australian-born member of AC/DC. In 2003 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the other members of the band.

He moved to New Zealand in 1983 after he was kicked out of the group. He rejoined in 1994 and has since been in and out of New Zealand while touring and recording.

Rudd also opened a restaurant in Tauranga, which recently attracted publicity when a group of staff took a case to the Employment Relations Authority.

AC/DC released recently their new album, Rock or Bust. The band has sold more than 200 million albums and features at or near the top of highest-grossing tour lists whenever they play live.

PHIL RUDD: 'I'm Going Back To Work With AC/DC'

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd, who has been out on bail for nearly two months on charges of possessing cannabis and methamphetamine and threatening to kill, spoke to ONE News for the first time since his arrest, calling the charges against him "ludicrous."

"This has just been a big ball of cheese and all the rats are gathering and having a piece, that's just life, but that's not who I am," Rudd told ONE News.

"I want my job back, I want my reputation back, and I'm gonna get it back. I'm gonna fucking take it back.

"I'm going back to work with AC/DC. I don't care who likes it or who doesn't.

"Everyone listens to the wrong people. They should listen to me. I'm a good guy, and I'm a pretty good drummer, by the way. Ask Angus [Young, AC/DC guitarist]. He'll tell you."
