Official Statement from Dana Burnell
To all the Crimson Glory fans around the world,
I am sharing today that I have made the very tough and difficult decision to step down as the drummer for Crimson Glory. This personal decision is solely mine, and it is certainly not easy for me to walk away—especially with the incredible new lineup we have built.
I want to clear up any speculation immediately: there is absolutely no rift in this band. We all love each other, get along fantastically, and genuinely enjoy each other's company, jamming, and playing shows together. The chemistry between the five of us is amazing, and it is just a completely positive, awesome environment to be a part of. That is a huge part of why this is so hard for me to say.
Though I am stepping down as drummer, I will always be a part of the Crimson Glory family, now and forever.
The truth is, even back in the early days, traveling has always been really tough on me. While I have always loved meeting the fans, rocking the stages, and absorbing your incredible energy, I have never been good at the travel aspect of touring. Additionally, Crimson Glory has not always been a full-time, non-stop entity. Outside of the band, I have owned a landscape maintenance company for over 30 years. It gets super busy during the summer months, which happens to be exactly when the touring and festival circuits ramp up. Shuffling both, while keeping my business thriving and my music thriving, has become increasingly difficult to balance.
Most importantly, I am one of the lucky few in this world who gets to live a real-life love story. My wife and I have an awesome marriage; we just love each other’s company and look forward to seeing each other every single day. I feel I am at a place in my life where I am looking for a quieter, slower-paced, private life. I am ready to step away from recording and touring so I can focus on my family and spend more quality time with her.
Jeff, Ben, and myself put this current lineup together, and I truly believe that Mark Borgmeyer and Travis Wills are the best thing to ever happen to Crimson Glory. They are two super-talented musicians with no egos and no agendas; they just want to be great friends, make awesome music, and give incredible live shows around the world.
Thank you to my bandmates for the unforgettable brotherhood, and thank you to the fans for your unwavering love and support through every chapter. I will always cherish the music we made together and wish the band nothing but the absolute best.
With love and respect,
Dana Burnell
