AMORPHIS HEADS FOR STUDIO – NEW ALBUM OUT IN SEPTEMBER

Finnish metal act Amorphis has started the year off by demoing new songs for their upcoming 12th studio album due out in September. The band will start pre­production this March in Helsinki with producer Jens Bogren. The album recordings will begin in April at Bogren's Fascination Street Studio in Stockholm.

The lyrics are written by Amorphis' spiritual mentor Pekka Kainulainen. ”Like Kalevala, they are descriptions of natural phenomena, seasons and the human mind. Reoccuring situations where hope and uncertainty alternate. Attempting to gain advice from higher powers. The poems do not form a complete story per se, but they are drawn together by a certain theme. We live under a red cloud and once again, time weighs us” describes Pekka Kainulainen.

The new album will be released in September when Amorphis will embark on a world tour, starting from their native Finland. Amorphis will be touring Europe with Nightwish at the end of the year.

This past December, Amorphis completed a successful Central European ”Retro” tour where the band played their legendary ”Tales From The Thousand Lakes” album in its entirety to celebrate the 20th anniversary of said record. As a special treat for the fans, Amorphis also played songs from their debut album, which they haven't played in more than two decades. In Germany the media praised the tour of its authencity and its ”time travel to 20 years ago” aspect.

”The tour set pays homage to the TFTTL album and did not include a single song released after 1995. It was great to see how boldly Tales... functions as a whole.”

2015-06-15 - Finnish masters of Melancholic Metal, AMORPHIS, are pleased to announce the release of their new upcoming album »Under The Red Cloud«. The worldwide release is scheduled for September, 04th via Nuclear Blast.

“The album is titled »Under The Red Cloud« and the artwork is done by Valnoir Mortasonge,“ guitarist Esa Holopainen states. “Valnoir is well known from his works for LAIBACH, PARADISE LOST, WATAIN, BEHEMOTH and many more. It was a great pleasure to work with him as he catched the lyrical topics really well. Colors and details describe the music perfectly.“

There's a lot's of elements in the songs but every note and element is in perfect harmony so that the result is fucking heavy and melodic. All I can say is that »Under The Red Cloud« will be in my personal Top 3 AMORPHIS albums that we've ever done.“
