We can now announce that our new album »Medusa« will be released on 1st September via Nuclear Blast!

The album artwork was created by Branca Studio and shows the infamous Gorgone, Medusa, from Greek mythology, carrying venomous snakes as hair and turning everyone into stone who would dare to look into her eyes.

∙ Greg Mackintosh: "Whilst we were writing »Medusa« and realising what the new songs were becoming, we had to find an artist to reflect this direction. After searching around for a while, I found Branca Studios. They have a keen eye for design and their modern take on retro artwork really fit the bill. What they have come up with is a blending of colourful yet retro styling, whilst maintaining the classic PARADISE LOST feel."

∙ Nick Holmes: "I was intrigued about a greater meaning and thinking more along the lines of what Medusa represents metaphorically. Medusa as a title works in many ways. From a nihilist perspective, when I read the description of 'medusa' on the wikipedia page: 'Attempts to avoid looking into Medusa's eyes represents avoiding the ostensibly depressing reality that the universe is meaningless' - the title was pretty much in the bag!"

2017-06-27 - On September 1st, PARADISE LOST's studio album »Medusa« will herald the loneliness and damp cold of autumn, as the legends from West Yorkshire return to their doom metal roots and deliver their 15th full-length release named after the Greek Gorgone whose sight turned people into stone.

The British cult metallers will premiere the first track off their freshly forged monster on July 7th, and can reveal a snippet from the upcoming single entitled 'The Longest Winter'. British gothic metal pioneers PARADISE LOST will enter Orgone Studios in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom at the end of the month with producer Jaime Gomez Arellano to begin recording their new album. An early 2020 release is expected.

2020-03-13 - "Obsidian"… dark, reflective and black: it’s a pretty decent description of the music that PARADISE LOST have been making over the last 32 years, even though this most resilient of British metal bands have stoically refused to be pinned down to one easily defined formula. Powered by a lust for creativity and a stout devotion to haunting heaviness, PARADISE LOST have defied the odds by coming back stronger than ever over the past decade. "Obsidian", the new album of Gothic legend PARADISE LOST will be released on 15th May.

The sixteenth PARADISE LOST studio album, „Obsidian“ eschews its immediate predecessors’ gruesome, myopic approach in favour of a richer and more dynamic deluge of black shades. From the deceptive elegance and dual atmospheres of opener ‚Darker Thoughts‘ through to the crushing, baroque doom of war-torn closer ‚Ravenghast‘, „Obsidian“ reveals a band in masterful control of a broad array of vital ideas. Most noticeably, the record boasts several songs that draw heavily from the much-loved, Kohl-encrusted days of ‘80s gothic rock: in particular, newly-minted PARADISE LOST anthems ‚Ghosts‘ is a guaranteed dancefloor-filler at any discerning goth nightclub.
