2020-03-06 - Often compared to a jam session between Aretha Franklin and LED ZEPPELIN, BLUES PILLS' career took them from an American garage to international glory within a few years. Their self titled debut album (2014) entered the German album charts at #4 and two years later they went straight to #1 with the successor "Lady in Gold". Starting in the smallest clubs the band suddenly found themselves playing on some of the world’s biggest stages from Rock Am Ring, Download, Sweden Rock and even the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival where DEEP PURPLE famously saw smoke on the water during Frank Zappa’s performance.

With the band’s 3rd album, ‘Holy Moly!’, to be released on June 19th, 2020, BLUES PILLS plan their return to a number of major festival stages, playing Download, Hurricane and Southside among many others throughout the summer.

But fans need not wait until summer for their first taste of the action. To support International Women’s Day on March 8th BLUES PILLS have released their first single 'Proud Woman'. The band describe their intentions with the song:
"With 'Proud Woman' we wanna give the fierce women and grrrls of the world a power anthem to turn on whenever they wanna feel empowered. Or just have fun. A song to everyone who stands behind the most obvious things of all. Equality and unity. Whoever you are, wherever you come from. Women will always be a driving force of change. And a change is gonna come."

2020-03-19 - If you were blazed by the heaviness of their first self titled album, and tripped to the psychedelic soul of "Lady In Gold" (#1 Germany) you won't be immune to the effects of this third dose of the pills.

"Holy Moly!" was written, produced and recorded in BLUES PILLS' own analogue studio which they built in the beautiful countryside of Närke, Sweden. In the old factory building, where the studio is located Zack, Elin and André spent almost a year recording and writing songs.

”This album is something we’ll be proud of even after death. These songs are from a very dark period of our lives. So much loss, anger and anxiety. Sadness and change. A separation into reincarnation. We stand behind every note and every word. This album was created in darkness and it guided us into the light again. One can only hope it will give you comfort too.”

BLUES PILLS founders and main songwriters Elin and Zack spent most of their awake time arranging and changing the songs. Together with the drummer André they built up an album in nuances of light and dark. The album is recorded by BLUES PILLS guitarist Zack, although with some helping hands along the way from THE HIVES members Nicolaus Arson and Johan Gustafsson, as well as Martin Jacobsson from Rovljud Sound. "Holy Moly!" is self- produced by BLUES PILLS and mixed by the Grammy award winning Andrew Scheps (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, IGGY POP, ADELE, BLACK SABBATH, RIVAL SONS, HOZIER). About "Holy Moly!" Andrew Scheps says:

”"Holy Moly!" can be a deceptive album. On first listen it seems like a great blues/rock album with classic songs and great vocals. On repeated listens though you start to appreciate the layers and nuance. Not often do you get a record that makes a great first impression but is still a grower!”

The album illustration ”Beast” is by the artist Daria Hlazatova. A haunting capture of the devil embraced by kindness and sorrow. Just like life, it’s in the darkest times you have to glow.

Unfortunately, the upcoming BLUES PILLS album, „Holy Moly!“, will not be released as planned on June 19th, 2020. Together, the band, its management and label have decided to postpone the album indefinitely.

The band states: "It’s with a heavy heart that we must tell you that our new album "Holy Moly!" must be postponed. Due to the situation with Covid-19 it’s impossible for us to go on with this album release according to plan. Festival after festival is getting canceled, borders are closed and we feel we cannot go on with this release to make it the best. We put so much into this, over a year of hard work in our own studio and we miss you fans out there SO much. This situation breaks our hearts, we were excited to share this with you. The album, the festivals, the upcoming tours."

BLUES PILLS continue: "We hope to have more information during the next week. But the album will be released, we’re just pushing the release date and we’re still thinking if we should go on releasing singles but over a longer time. Or take a break and continue the release when we decided when the album will be released. We want to share this with you so bad, and we will. But now the most important is to take care of each other. Stay strong, stay healthy. Support bands and artists you like, keep the rock rolling.

BLUES PILLS are happy to confirm August, 21st as a new release date worldwide. The album will be available on CD, 2CD, a number of different vinyl variants and as a special LP-Boxset.
