Farewell And Addition

We regret to inform you that Sime (guitars) is leaving Eluveitie.
Sime was thinking about this since quite a long time already and finally decided to take this step. He will set about some new goals in his life – both, vocational and familial – which will make it impossible for him to play in a touring band.


Sime was part of Eluveitie for 8 years now, part of our little, crazy family – and we will dearly miss him. But at the same time we’re thankful for the awesome time we spent together.
We wish him and his family all the best for his personal and vocational future!

Here you go with Sime’s personal statement:
„A couple of months ago I informed my band mates, that I’ll leave Eluveitie in September 2012 for familial reasons. It was a very tough call, it was difficult to make this decision – in a way the band is part of the family too, after all.
I will dearly miss Eluveitie. But fortunately the world (or rather Switzerland) is small: I will still play the upcoming shows in Solothurn’s Kofmehl and the Eluveitie & Friends festival with full commitment!
I wish the band all the best and accident-free upcoming tours!

We’d like to make you aware of two special shows:
Sime will share the stage with us as special guest on the 20th of September in the Kofmehl (Solothurn, CH) and on the 29th of December in the Eulachhalle (Eluveitie & Friends festival, Winterthur, CH)! Don’t miss it!
At the same time it’s about time to introduce you to the man who will follow in Sime’s footsteps!
His name is Rafael Salzmann and he will play the upcoming tours with us as a live session guitarist.

Rafael is a gifted musician and very skilled guitar player and he also already has been working together with Anna in the Soundfarm Studios. Now we’re looking forward a lot to rock the stages together with him!

On a related note, Päde will have to take a short leave for personal reasons as well and will rejoin our tour with Sabaton in the beginning of October. In the meantime, there’s still 7 of us left to kick some ass all over Europe!

Eluveitie work on new album!

Some of you might have heard rumours or picked up side remarks in an interview… so yeah, we hereby officially confirm: We are working on a new album!

During the next few weeks, the ‘Helvetios World Tour’ will come to it’s end (after leading us all around the globe for 20 months).
This is when we will take a break from touring and playing live (except for this year’s edition of the ‘Eluveitie & Friends Festival’, of course) and fully focus on the follow-up album to ‘Helvetios’! Already now the workings run at full force – both, conceptionally and in song writing!

So keep your eyes and ears open! You can expect more news on this soon!

Striking news from the Eluveitie camp: With a heavy heart we have to inform you that Meri, our fiddle player, has decided to leave Eluveitie. Meri was a part of our band from the very beginning. During the incredible last 11 years she went through thick and thin with us, played nearly 650 shows and performed on every Eluveitie album so far! As the saying goes "all good things come to an end" - the time has come for Meri to devote her time to new goals. Thank you, Meri, for sticking with us all these years! Thank you for everything you've given Eluveitie and for all the times we've shared. We won't forget. And from all our hearts we wish you all the best for your personal and musical future! Meri will leave Eluveitie by the end of the year. So heads up, all of you who want to see Meri playing with us one last time - our last live show with her will be the Eluveitie & Friends festival on December 28! Don't miss it!

As hard as farewells can be, as auspicious are new beginnings!

We are thrilled to introduce to you Meri’s successor.
We consider ourselves lucky to have found a true master of Celtic Folk fiddling! A full-blooded musician and violin player through and through, she has played countless shows over many years and also worked as a session musician with many well-known acts (such as The Hooters, for instance). During the last ten years she further made a name for herself with her engagement with the Irish folk rock bands Paddy Goes To Holyhead and Across The Border, but also the renowned medieval/classical metal act Haggard.
Not only a virtuoso of the fiddle, she also plays the 7-stringed violin as well as the cello!

So, ladies and gentlemen – please welcome to the Eluveitie camp: Nicole Ansperger!
