Erik ha decidido que los viajes y los rigores de la carretera no favorecen su salud ni su recuperación en general, y quiere centrarse en un estilo de vida que sea más adecuado para su bienestar, su curación y el de su familia.
Skid Row está orgulloso de lo que han creado y logrado con Erik durante los últimos dos años y solo deseamos lo mejor para él y su salud.
Para celebrar los últimos dos años, la banda lanzará un álbum en vivo que se anunciará próximamente, y que captura perfectamente este momento en los más de 35 años de historia de la banda, .
"Tuve la oportunidad de unirme a esta increíble banda 6 meses después de mi tratamiento contra la leucemia. Y un mes después de eso, estaba en una gira mundial con Skid f**** Row. ¡Guau! Fue un sueño hecho realidad. Sin embargo, resultó ser un desafío viajar por el mundo con un sistema inmunológico deteriorado como resultado de mi trasplante de médula ósea. Respeto y entiendo que Skid Row es una banda de directo, pero como no puedo priorizar mi salud estando en la banda, he decidido que es mejor para mí hacerme a un lado.
Amo Skid Row, no tengo nada más que respeto por los chicos de la banda, pero amo y respeto más mi salud. Estoy más fuerte y saludable cada día, pero después de consultar a mi médico, necesito darme más tiempo de recuperación, lo cual no puedo hacer como cantante principal de Skid Row. Es por eso que he tomado la difícil decisión de dejarlo. Quiero agradecer a los muchachos esta increíble oportunidad. Y quiero dar las gracias a todos los fans de Skid Row que me aceptaron como cantante principal de esta icónica banda.

Today Skid Row and Erik Gronwall jointly announce that Erik will step down as the vocalist for Skid Row. Longtime friend Lzzy Hale of Halestorm will be taking over vocal duties for the upcoming scheduled four concerts.
Erik has decided that the travel and rigors of the road is not conducive to his overall health and recovery, and wants to focus on a lifestyle that is more amenable for his well-being, healing and family.
Skid Row is proud of what they have created and accomplished with Erik over the past two years and we wish nothing but the best to him and his health. To celebrate the last two years the band will be releasing a live album that perfectly captures this moment of time in the band's 35+ year history, to be announced soon.
"I got the opportunity to join this incredible band 6 months after my treatment against leukemia. And one month after that I was on a world tour with Skid f**** Row. Wow! It was a dream come true. However, it proved challenging touring the world with an impaired immune system, which is a result of my bone marrow transplant. I respect and understand that Skid Row is a touring band but since I can’t prioritize my health being in the band, I have decided that it’s better for me to step aside. I love Skid Row, I have nothing but respect for the guys in the band but I love and respect my health more. I’'m getting stronger and healthier every day but after consulting my doctor I need to allow myself more time to recover, which I can’t do as the lead singer of Skid Row. That’s why I have reached the tough decision to move on. I want to thank the guys for this incredible opportunity.
