Beforehand there will be the release of the first single called 'Élan', which will be out on February 13th. The 4-track single features the album version, radio edit and an alternate version of 'Élan', as well as the non-album bonus track 'Sagan'.

»Endless Forms Most Beautiful« will be the first NIGHTWISH studio album to feature Dutch vocalist Floor Jansen. Longtime drummer Jukka Nevalainen will sit out on the recording sessions due to health issues; Kai Hahto (WINTERSUN a.o.) will replace him.
NIGHTWISH also revealed the famed evolutionary biologist and writer, Professor Richard Dawkins as a guest on this eighth studio album.

Ajattelin tehdä niin kuin kaikki muutkin tekevät. En vain tajunnut, että olin ainut nainen miesseurassa. Sitten toinen nainen tuli sisään pyyhe päällään ja totesi ihmettelyyni, että "näin on mukavampi". Niinpä tietenkin, Nightwishin hollantilainen laulaja Floor Jansen muistelee ensimmäistä saunakokemustaan Suomessa.

Jansen pysyy kannassaan kokemuksesta huolimatta: alastomuus on luonnollista ja oikein.

 Saunominen ja avantouinti on paljon hauskempaa alasti! Jätän uimapuvun pois aina kun on mahdollista, suomalaistunut laulajatar naurahtaa.

Jansen vakinaistettiin Nightwishin solistiksi viime vuoden syksyllä, ja hän muutti heinäkuussa Joensuuhun lähemmäs muita Nightwishin jäseniä. Suomalaistuminen on sujunut hänen mielestään hyvin, vaikkakin jotain on aina opittava kantapään kautta.

Tuomas kertoo: Tämä lainaus sankariltani walt-sedältä oli lähtökohta Élanin kirjoittamiselle. Kappaleen teema onkin pienuudessaan Helsinki itse elämän tarkoitus, joka voi olla meille kaikille jotain täysin omaa. Floor Jansen ja sille antautumisen tärkeäksi. Vähemmän kuljettuja polkuja ei tule pelätä. Élan on pieni, mutta jopa ihastuttava maistiainen koko albumista. Koko matkan lopullista suuruutta se kuitenkin valottaa vain vähän…
